My weight loss journey began in April 2020. I was 230 pounds the heaviest I have ever been. 2020 was a journey of self-improvement for me. So, let me tell you how I did it. While we all were quarantining because of Covid-19, I told myself it was either sit on the couch and worry about COVID-19 or do something about my health and improve my well-being physically and mentally. I started doing virtual therapy sessions and started to exercise every day until it became something natural for me. I WAS 230 POUNDS, my knees hurt when I crossed my legs, my ankle socks made indents in my ankles which were nonexistent, and my knees were nowhere to be seen. Throughout the process of losing weight my mom and dad were my biggest motivations. My mom reminded me why I was doing it in the first place. My dad basically baby sat me to make sure I would start and finish my workout.
By August 2020 I had lost 40 pounds total. Something I was not able to do for years I accomplished in 5 months. I cut out soda, alcohol (even though it was an occasional thing for me), snacks such as chips and other salty savory things that I like, sugar (even though that wasn’t in high consumption for me), and I decreased portion sizes of the food I ate. I made sure I was eating food that would give me healthy energy, I started to meditate, and my overall health was improving. Even though 2020 was a struggle in many ways for many people it was so important for me to prioritize myself while I was taking care of my family. I lost 40 pounds, clothes that didn’t fit me started fitting me again and even some clothes got loose. My self-esteem increased, and I was so much more confident and happier. Throughout this continued journey of self love and self worth I look forward to connecting with you all whether it be about weight, self-image, or self worth! It is so important to prioritize yourself.
